On March 29th 1969, my parents were married and promised to honor and love each other for all the days of their lives…. AND for fifty one years they did just that. Together my parents were magical. Fifty plus years of doing anything is no small feat– but my parents made it look easy. Whether enjoying one of my mom’s delicious, prepared with love meals, or listening to one of my dad’s great stories, if you were at my parents table you were listened to, cared for and loved by this wonderful couple.

Bill & Theresa had a wonderful 50th anniversary party in 2019. They had a truly magical love story made of love and friendship.

Theresa had wonderful relationships with her grandchildren, This is her reading with her youngest Grandson Sean Delaney.

Songs Theresa Loved

My mom loved music.  When we were kids she was constantly singing to us and music was always blasting in the car and in our home. We would often come home from school to her dancing the twist in our living room, or singing a favorite ballad as she made dinner.

She sang to us as kids and to our children during their childhoods. She sang with her mother, often in Italian, to their favorite songs. Two of the many songs my mom and grandmother sang as lullabies to gently put us to sleep were The alphabet Song and Mighty like a Rose. Take a listen!

The Alphabet Song

My mom would often sing this song Michael Row to us when it was bedtime. She sang it to my girls when they were babies as well.

The Highwaymen version that went to #1 on the Billboard charts had these lyrics:

Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
Sister help to trim the sail, hallelujah.
Sister help to trim the sail, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
The River Jordan is chilly and cold, hallelujah.
Chills the body but not the soul, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
The river is deep and the river is wide, hallelujah.
Milk and honey on the other side, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
Michael row the boat ashore, hallelujah.
